AKA
History takes place in today's Japan where Japanese macaques have taken up residence in a hot spring in the mountain being considered a tourist place, closed for the avalanche season.
Our hero is named Shiro (which means white in Japanese) is a Japanese macaque who is not like his compatriots. Indeed, he does not have red but white skin and therefore he is martyred by an evil group of monkeys.
But one day the nice guardian Mr. Matsumoto changes the life of the little monkey by hanging a poster on the site's billboard.
This poster represents a child who got a sunburn and turned red at the beach.
This is how Shiro decides to undertake a long journey in order to obtain scarlet skin and no longer be mocked by his colleagues.

References
the Nihonzaru (Japanese macaques) very famous in Japan because they like to bathe in the hot springs of the Nagano region. It is a well-known tourist place called Jigokudani Park.
For this film I wanted to give a cartoon aspect
I was inspired by the aspect of the monkeys of the film Onsen and especially the Hako monkey by Thibaud Garrigos, a former student of ESMA.
For the sets I favored this type of rendering for the moment.
SKETCHES
Shiro is a small Japanese macaque often mocked by his colleagues because he is the only one of his tribe who does not have red skin. Shiro means white in Japanese.
It is the other characters of the story, the 3 monkeys in the order Iwazaru, Mizaru and Kikazaru who are the executioners of Shiro and Mr. Matsumoto, the kind guardian of the hot spring of the monkeys.

Presentation of the place where the story takes place.

We can see that the place is guarded by a fence and that the person supposed to watch the site is sleeping.

Later that day, Mr. Matsumoto wakes up and stretches outside the guardhouse, before beginning his work.

Shiro finds a small backpack that he allows himself to take in order to fill it with food and to be able to begin his journey.

Shiro observes the 3 wicked macaques having fun in the hot spring and living their lives with impunity.
Shot 12:
When Shiro is projected above him Iwazaru threatens him, just to make him understand that he is the chief at the source.
Shot 16:
Mr Matsumoto hangs the poster on the site's billboard under Shiro's watchful eye.
Shot 20:
As he leaves he hears voices and hides in order to escape one last time from his assailants.

Shiro finds himself facing the immensity of the mountain, it's good, equipped with his bag he is about to leave the hot springs
